Celebrating Sanjeev Gautam’s Graduation

In December, 2023, we proudly celebrated the graduation of Sanjeev Gautam, who successfully earned his Ph.D. in Horticultural Sciences from Texas A&M University. Since starting his doctoral journey in 2018, Sanjeev has been an integral part of our lab, contributing to research on potato heat tolerance.

Achievements and Honors

Sanjeev’s dedication and excellence were recognized through several prestigious scholarships and fellowships, including:

  • Borlaug International Scholars Fellowship (2018, 2019, 2020)
  • Sugar Creek Garden Club Scholarship
  • Belsterling Scholarship of the Dallas Garden Club
  • Collin County Master Gardener Scholarship

Research Contributions

During his time in the program, Sanjeev conducted critical research focused on addressing one of the most pressing challenges in agriculture—heat stress. His key projects included:

  • In vitro screening of potato genotypes for heat tolerance.
  • Field and greenhouse evaluations of potato genotypes under heat stress conditions.

His work has provided valuable insights into improving potato resilience in the face of climate change, contributing to advancements in both science and industry.

Career Next Steps

We are thrilled to share that Sanjeev is now applying his expertise as an R&D Agronomist with CSS Farms, a leading agricultural company specializing in potato production. His role involves leveraging research to drive innovation and sustainability in the potato industry.

Congratulations, Sanjeev!

We wish Sanjeev all the best as he embarks on this exciting new chapter in his career.
